Churches may have their doors open to all, but that won’t do you much good if you can’t get on the sidewalk. When Widel Paving began working with a local church in St. Peters, there were no ADA compliant sidewalks available. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) has standards for sidewalk widths, slopes, and ramps so they can be easily accessible for all.
We excavated 6 tandem loads of dirt, framed the sidewalks per ADA specifications, poured 21 yards of concrete at 4 inches thick, installed the appropriate curbs, installed a box drain and grooved every 5 feet. With the sidewalk now fully compliant, the church subcontracted a third party to install the ADA compliant hand railing.
